According to our sources, it'll be powered by the brand's naturally aspirated 230-hp 3.0L inline-six cylinder or its twin-turbo counterpart with 300 hp on board. The model will likely have one or two of the various BMW diesel motors currently on the market.
Given the M division's love for tuning, we wouldn't be surprised to see an optional sport package included in the new X3's mix.
