Mercedes-Benz of Edinburgh & Coldstream are the Mercedes-Benz Retailer for Edinburgh and the Borders, with sites at the Luxury Car Village, Newbridge, Fort Kinnaird in East Edinburgh and Coldstream in the Scottish Borders. With a total staff of more than 250 people, we sell a large number of New and Approved Used Mercedes-Benz and smart cars, we have more than 35 service bays and carry a substantial stock of Mercedes-Benz Parts across all three locations. We have been awarded the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Retailer of the Year title in 2014 and 2018, together with the Customer Service Team of the Year title for 2017. The role of Service Manager at the Newbridge business is one which is rarely available and makes this a great opportunity for the successful candidate. You will be joining a team of people across the business focused on delivering great customer service whilst representing the best known automotive brand in the World!

Nature of the role

You will report to the Market Area Service Manager and work closely with two Service Manager colleagues based at our other sites. This role is all about our customers. You will need to constantly manage our customer service levels at all times maintaining the high standards expected of us. You will manage, motivate and lead the activities of the Service Department team to achieve the monthly targets and budgets whilst delivering an agreed profit contribution to the business. You will be able to manage customer feedback and concerns positively and professionally, documenting these clearly. You will have the chance to engage in training and development activities within the business and with Mercedes-Benz UK.

What does the job entail?

  • To lead the activities of the Service Department team to achieve the monthly targets and budgets
  • Continuously monitor our Customer Service levels and review feedback/scoring as noted on the Mercedes-Benz CSI portal, identifying and taking corrective action where necessary
  • To carry out regular reviews and appraisals for each team member, with relevant training plans agreed and implemented
  • To take responsibility for all Departmental resources, materials and Personnel
  • To ensure customer feedback and concerns are dealt with quickly and courteously, documenting them for review with
  • Hold a regular team meeting at 11am to update performance and set objectives
  • Ensure a safe working environment is maintained and employees are continually trained in the safe use of equipment and substances
  • Ensure your work areas, both front of house and workshop are maintained to a high standard of repair, decoration and presentation, as agreed with the site GM/Board
  • Ensure that all legal responsibilities are met
  • Ensure that all warranty work is carried out within guidelines
  • Ensure any recruitment requirements are conducted with reference to current policies and procedures
  • Assistance with any other task as directed by your Manager

 

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience in a similar motor industry role, ideally with an understanding of a prestige business and the needs of those customers
  • The ability to work in a pressured environment and manage the daily workflow generated
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Someone who is Quality focused and monitors attention to detail
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Customer oriented
  • PC literate, with experience using dealership DMS and manufacturer systems
