Important Update: Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) Increase from 1 April 2025

From 1 April 2025, the Government is increasing Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates for all new vehicle registrations. While this change affects all vehicles, those with higher emissions—such as R derivatives and 3.0-litre V6 diesel models—will see the biggest impact.

For example, from 1 April 2025, the first-year VED for a the Volkswagen Golf R, with its high-performance engine, will see a significant increase. The first-year VED for this model will rise from £1,095 to £2,190 compared to vehicles registered in February or March.

What This Means for You

  • Order Before April to Avoid Higher VED – If you're considering a new vehicle, registering it before 1 April 2025 could save you a significant amount.
  • Availability is Limited – March is expected to be a particularly busy month for vehicle registrations, so we encourage you to place your order as soon as possible.
  • Factory Orders & Delivery Times – If you're ordering a factory-built or pipeline vehicle, be sure to check expected delivery times to ensure registration before the deadline.
