Starting from Thursday, August 8, performance enthusiasts can order four thrilling trims of the new Golf at Volkswagen UK Retailers: the GTI Clubsport, R, R Estate, and R Black Edition. Each variant is packed with power, style, and advanced tech, representing the best in Volkswagen’s iconic Golf range.
The 300 PS Golf GTI Clubsport is a motorsport-inspired masterpiece, making its UK debut just weeks after turning heads at the legendary Nürburgring. This hot hatch shares the dynamic design cues of the classic GTI but comes with exclusive Clubsport front bumpers, a honeycomb grille, and Volkswagen’s cutting-edge IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, which offer an impressive range of 500 meters and feature an illuminated VW logo.
Inside, the GTI Clubsport is loaded with premium features such as keyless access, heated front seats, three-zone climate control, and the latest Volkswagen infotainment system displayed on a vibrant 12.9-inch touchscreen. Safety and assistance tech includes Lane Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, and Emergency Assist, making it a well-rounded choice for spirited daily drives.
With a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a seven-speed DSG transmission, and progressive steering, this high-performance Golf achieves 0-62 mph in just 5.6 seconds and tops out at 155 mph. The new Golf GTI Clubsport is available from August 8, with prices starting at £41,655.
Next up, the Golf R and R Estate models push performance to new heights with a 333 PS engine—13 PS more than previous models—and optimized driving dynamics thanks to DCC adaptive chassis control. This powerhouse duo uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, seven-speed DSG transmission, and Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system with R-Performance Torque Vectoring for optimal grip and control. The R models reach 155 mph but can extend to 167 mph with the optional R-Performance package.
The refreshed exterior includes a sleek front design with IQ.LIGHT LED headlights, an illuminated VW logo, and stylish air curtains in the bumper. Inside, sports seats with integrated headrests and the latest infotainment software are paired with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, intuitive touch sliders, and Volkswagen’s new IDA voice assistant, powered by ChatGPT, for a smarter in-car experience.
The Golf R starts at £43,320, while the R Estate is available from £44,685.
For those who want their performance with an extra dose of attitude, the Golf R Black Edition delivers. Equipped with the same 333 PS 2.0-litre engine and 4MOTION AWD as the standard R models, this variant adds a dark, refined aesthetic, featuring black 19-inch Estoril alloy wheels, black VW badges and R logos, and darkened IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights. A bold roof spoiler completes its striking look.
This model sprints to 62 mph in an exhilarating 4.6 seconds, with a top speed of 168 mph courtesy of the R-Performance package, which is standard on the Black Edition. Motorsport fans will appreciate the additional Drift and Special racetrack modes, as well as a GPS lap timer and G-meter to monitor high-performance stats.
The Golf R Black Edition starts at £44,570 and is available for order starting August 8.
