A New Era for a Mazda Icon: All-New Mazda CX-5 Unveiled for Europe

Western & Barnetts Mazda looks ahead to the arrival of the next-generation CX-5 in Summer 2026

Mazda has officially unveiled the all-new, third-generation Mazda CX-5 – a bold evolution of one of its most successful and best-loved SUVs. Featuring an updated design, advanced technology, and a refined 2.5-litre petrol engine with mild hybrid technology, the next-generation Mazda CX-5 is set to arrive in the UK in Summer 2026, and Western & Barnetts Mazda is excited to share the first details.

Carrying forward the spirit of the original CX-5, the new model builds on its iconic silhouette with a more dynamic, confident presence and a sleeker, more practical design. Staying true to Mazda’s Kodo – Soul of Motion design philosophy, the CX-5 continues to evolve as a stylish and driver-focused SUV that seamlessly fits into both urban life and weekend adventures.

Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director, Mazda Motors UK, said:
“The Mazda CX-5 is an incredibly important car in Mazda’s history and I’m excited for the third-generation model to join Mazda’s SUV line-up next year. From the launch of the original first-generation car in 2012, the CX-5 has been a hugely popular choice for UK SUV buyers who have loved its style, quality and driver engagement, and having recently surpassed 100,000 sales in the UK, it’s clear this ever-popular SUV has seen amazing customer loyalty and satisfaction.”
He added:
“It’s incredible to look back and consider just how much the UK market has changed since the CX-5’s launch in 2012. The huge increase in the popularity of SUVs means that today the CX-5 sits alongside the 2025 Mazda CX-60, all-new Mazda CX-80 and the smaller Mazda CX-30 in our line-up, but it was the success of the award-winning CX-5 that established Mazda as a maker of genuinely sporty SUVs, which deliver class leading quality and high levels of standard equipment.”

Crafted for the Modern Driver

Developed under the theme of "Wearable Gear", the new CX-5 is designed to feel like a natural extension of its driver. A revised chassis, extended wheelbase and new proportions boost both road presence and interior practicality. Boot space is up by 61 litres, while wider-opening rear doors and a versatile 40:20:40 split rear bench increase family-friendliness and flexibility for active lifestyles.

Inside the cabin, Mazda has focused on calm, spacious design and high-quality materials, with a wraparound dashboard layout and simplified controls enhancing the driving environment. Depending on trim, interior options include:

  • Black or tan leather (Homura)
  • Two-tone black-and-white artificial leather with suede-style accents (Exclusive-Line)

The new centre console offers extra storage, while higher trims feature a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting for a refined atmosphere.

Next-Level Connectivity and Comfort

Connectivity takes a significant leap forward with either a 12.9- or 15.6-inch centre touchscreen, offering smartphone-style interactions and customisable menus. For the first time in a Mazda, the CX-5 comes equipped with Google built-in for seamless daily usability. A 10.25-inch digital instrument display and streamlined steering wheel controls ensure key information is always within reach.

Higher-grade models also include a premium 12-speaker Bose® sound system, bringing immersive audio quality to every journey.

Performance That Evolves

Under the bonnet, the all-new CX-5 features a revised 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv G petrol engine producing 141ps (104kW) and 238Nm of torque. Paired with Mazda’s 24V mild hybrid technology and a brake-by-wire system, it delivers quicker response, smooth acceleration, and better driving comfort.

The front-wheel-drive version accelerates from 0-62mph in 10.5 seconds, while AWD variants offer added grip and capability. Suspension and chassis updates ensure enhanced ride comfort and precise handling — and with a towing capacity of up to 2,000kg, the CX-5 remains a capable companion for every adventure.

Designed for Safety and Peace of Mind

Mazda continues to prioritise safety, with a comprehensive suite of updated Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) aimed at securing a Euro NCAP 5-star safety rating.

Four Trim Levels to Choose From

The all-new CX-5 will be available in four distinct grades:

  • Prime-Line
  • Centre-Line
  • Exclusive-Line
  • Homura

Each offers unique styling and equipment packages, designed to suit a range of lifestyles and preferences.
