Western & Barnetts Mazda is delighted to share that the all-new Mazda CX-5 has achieved the maximum five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, reaffirming Mazda’s ongoing commitment to delivering advanced safety, intelligent driver-assistance systems, and complete peace of mind for customers.
In the latest round of Euro NCAP testing, the all-new CX-5 delivered outstanding results across all categories, securing 90% for Adult Occupant protection, 89% for Child Occupant protection, 93% for Vulnerable Road Users, and 83% for Safety Assist technologies. By keeping kind eyes on the driver, Mazda’s innovative approach ensures enhanced safety, enjoyment, and confidence for every journey.
The CX-5’s 90% Adult Occupant score reflects a strong and stable passenger compartment during frontal offset tests, with good protection for the knees and femurs of both front passengers. Protection across key areas of the body was rated good or adequate in a variety of scenarios, including full-width rigid and side barrier tests. Even in the challenging side pole impact, performance remained robust.
Far-side crash protection was boosted by effective occupant movement control and an impressively performing far-side airbag, while whiplash protection was rated excellent for both front and rear passengers. The result is enhanced by advanced eCall functionality, secondary collision mitigation, and reliable door and window operability in the event of submersion.
For younger passengers, the all-new CX-5 scored an exceptional 89% Child Occupant rating. It earned maximum points for both 6- and 10-year-old dummies in frontal and side barrier testing, aided by automatic passenger airbag deactivation and secure compatibility with all approved child restraint systems. An indirect child presence alert further boosts family safety.
With a 93% score, the all-new Mazda CX-5 shines in protecting pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. The SUV performed exceptionally well in head-impact tests and achieved maximum points for lower-leg protection. Its autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system, capable of detecting cyclists and pedestrians - including those approaching from behind - performed strongly in reversing environments and “dooring” scenarios. Full marks for motorcyclist protection further highlight the CX-5’s comprehensive real-world safety capabilities.
The CX-5’s 83% Safety Assist score reflects its advanced suite of driver-support technologies. Effective AEB performance against vehicles, reliable speed limit recognition, lane assist systems that gently guide the car back into position, and proactive driver monitoring all contribute to its top-tier safety credentials.
