The all-new Mazda CX-80 has achieved the coveted five-star rating in Euro NCAP’s latest safety assessments. This flagship seven-seat SUV excelled with a 92% score in the Adult Occupancy category, 88% for Child Occupancy, and an impressive 84% in Vulnerable Road Users protection.
The CX-80’s standout performance in the Adult Occupancy category included full marks in the Lateral and Rear Impact tests. It also demonstrated strong protection in the Frontal Impact test against a full-width rigid barrier. Notably, the SUV achieved top marks in both the side barrier and severe side pole impact tests, with "good" ratings across all critical body areas.
In the Child Occupancy category, the CX-80 garnered full points for crash test performance with six- and ten-year-old child dummies in both Frontal and Lateral Impact scenarios. The vehicle’s CRS Installation Check, evaluating the correct installation of child seats, also achieved a perfect score, leading to a remarkable 88% combined result.
The Vulnerable Road Users category saw the CX-80 achieve a robust 84%. Its autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system performed well, effectively detecting pedestrians from both the front and rear. Cyclist protection, including prevention against “dooring” accidents, was also rated highly.
The CX-80 secured a solid 79% score in the Safety Assist category, powered by Mazda’s i-Activsense safety technologies. The vehicle earned maximum marks in the Lane Support category for features like Emergency Lane Keeping and Lane Keep Assist. Its AEB Car-to-Car performance received excellent ratings for collision prevention in various scenarios, including turning across oncoming traffic.
The Mazda CX-80’s exceptional safety is underpinned by its Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture, which integrates a longitudinal front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. This innovative design combines rear-biased all-wheel-drive stability with neutral cornering dynamics, ensuring an outstanding driving experience.
