All-New Mazda6e Earns Top Five-Star Euro NCAP Rating

The all-new Mazda6e has been awarded the maximum five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP following its latest round of rigorous crash testing - a testament to Mazda’s ongoing commitment to safety, innovation, and quality engineering.

Mazda’s first fully electric saloon achieved an impressive 93% score in both Adult Occupant and Child Occupant protection. The Mazda6e also performed strongly in the Vulnerable Road Users and Safety Assist categories, scoring 74% and 77% respectively.

Outstanding Adult and Child Occupant Protection

In Adult Occupant protection, the Mazda6e earned maximum points in the side barrier test and demonstrated strong protection in the more severe side pole impact. The inclusion of a far-side airbag to mitigate occupant-to-occupant injuries further highlights Mazda’s focus on safety innovation. Head restraints across all seats also provided excellent whiplash protection in rear-end collisions.

Equally impressive was the 93% Child Occupant protection rating. The Mazda6e scored maximum points in crash tests simulating both frontal and lateral impacts for six- and ten-year-old passengers. The model also received full marks for its Child Restraint System installation checks, and its Occupancy Monitoring System, which alerts the driver not to leave children unattended in the vehicle, was praised by Euro NCAP.

Protection for Vulnerable Road Users

In tests assessing pedestrian and cyclist safety, the Mazda6e provided mostly good or adequate protection, earning a 74% rating. Its Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Support systems achieved maximum points for motorcyclist protection, while door-opening warnings for all side doors added another layer of safety for cyclists.

Advanced Safety Assistance Technology

The Mazda6e’s comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) contributed to a strong 77% Safety Assist score. The AEB system performed effectively in vehicle-to-vehicle scenarios, while the standard Driver Status Monitor and Lane Support System helped keep drivers alert and on track. Additionally, the Speed Assistance System accurately recognised and responded to local speed limits.

Designed for Safety and Performance

Beyond its advanced safety technology, the Mazda6e benefits from an ideal 47:53 weight distribution, low centre of gravity, and exceptional driving dynamics. Inside, a driver-focused cockpit and intuitive human-machine interface (HMI) ensure that the driver remains engaged and in control at all times.

Combining Japanese craftsmanship, cutting-edge design, and electric innovation, the all-new Mazda6e represents the next evolution of Mazda’s electric journey - offering refined performance, comfort, and world-class safety.

Arriving in the UK in 2026, the Mazda6e marks a bold new chapter in Mazda’s EV story.
