Western & Barnetts Mazda is delighted to announce that the all-new Mazda6e, Mazda’s latest all-electric model, has been crowned World Car Design of the Year 2026 at the prestigious New York International Auto Show.
This global recognition marks Mazda’s third win in the category, following the success of the Mazda MX-5 in 2016 and the Mazda3 in 2020, highlighting the brand’s continued commitment to exceptional design.
Selected by an international panel of around 100 automotive journalists, the Mazda6e stood out among 99 contenders, demonstrating Mazda’s ability to bring striking design and innovation into the electric vehicle era.
Arriving in the UK this summer, the Mazda6e will be available from £38,995, offering outstanding value for a premium electric saloon. With elegant proportions and practical hatchback functionality, it represents a bold reinvention of the Mazda6 for modern drivers.
The Mazda6e showcases a refined evolution of Mazda’s KODO – Soul of Motion design philosophy, combining flowing lines with precise craftsmanship rooted in Japanese design principles.
Its sleek coupe-like silhouette, low roofline, and sculpted body create a powerful yet elegant road presence. Frameless doors, distinctive lighting, and a striking illuminated front grille signature all contribute to a modern, sophisticated look.
At the rear, a full-width light bar and clean Mazda lettering enhance its contemporary styling, while an electronically deployable rear spoiler adds both visual appeal and improved stability at speed.
The UK specification Mazda6e features a 78kWh battery, delivering an impressive range of up to 348 miles (WLTP). Fast charging from 10% to 80% can be achieved in as little as 24 minutes using a rapid DC charger.
With 258ps of power and rear-wheel drive, the Mazda6e accelerates from 0–62mph in just 7.9 seconds, offering a responsive and engaging driving experience alongside impressive efficiency.
Despite its sleek design, practicality remains a priority. A spacious cabin, 336-litre boot, and additional 72-litre front storage ensure the Mazda6e is as functional as it is stylish.
Inside, the Mazda6e offers a calm and refined environment, inspired by the Japanese concept of “Ma”, the beauty of space and simplicity.
A panoramic roof fills the cabin with natural light, while high-quality materials and thoughtful design create a premium feel throughout. Both available trims, Takumi and Takumi Plus, feature generous levels of equipment, including advanced infotainment and driver-focused technology such as a large central touchscreen and head-up display.
