Mazda CX-5 Hits 100,000 Sales Milestone in the UK

A true success story for Mazda, the CX-5 continues to make its mark globally and here in the UK. With over 4.5 million units sold worldwide, the Mazda CX-5 has now surpassed 100,000 sales in the UK, underlining its position as Mazda’s best-selling model in the country.

Since its launch in 2012, the Mazda CX-5 has played a pivotal role in shaping Mazda’s reputation for blending style, innovation, and performance. It was the first vehicle to showcase Mazda’s Kodo: Soul of Motion design language and Skyactiv technology—debuting to widespread acclaim at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show after being previewed by the Minagi concept.

The first-generation CX-5 quickly gained popularity for its engaging driving experience, practicality, and distinctive design. A major update in 2015 was followed by the launch of the second generation in 2017, with further refinements made in 2022. Today, the Mazda CX-5 features advanced 24v Mazda M Hybrid technology on all petrol variants, with cylinder deactivation included on 165ps petrol automatic models. The efficient 184ps Skyactiv-D diesel engine also remains part of the lineup.

Commenting on this significant milestone, Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director of Mazda Motors UK, said:

“The Mazda CX-5 is a landmark model in our brand’s history. Since its introduction, it has consistently been a favourite among UK SUV buyers thanks to its dynamic design, premium quality, and enjoyable drive.”

He added:

“Passing 100,000 sales in the UK is a testament to the loyalty of our customers and the enduring appeal of the CX-5. The SUV market has evolved significantly since 2012, and the CX-5 has been at the forefront of that change. Today, it sits proudly alongside the 2025 Mazda CX-60, the upcoming Mazda CX-80, and the compact Mazda CX-30—offering a versatile SUV range to suit a wide variety of needs.”
“The continued development and refinement of the CX-5 over the years have kept it competitive and desirable, and we’re excited about its future in our SUV family.”
