Mazda CX-80 Wins Large Car of the Year at 2025 Scottish Car of the Year Awards

Western & Barnetts Mazda is proud to share that the Mazda CX-80 has been named Large Car of the Year at the 2025 Scottish Car of the Year (SCOTY) Awards. Launched earlier this year, the CX-80 sits at the top of Mazda’s European line-up and represents the brand’s most spacious and luxurious SUV ever offered in the UK.

As Mazda’s new flagship model above the award-winning CX-60, the CX-80 brings together three-row versatility, a high-quality interior and advanced drivetrains designed to challenge established premium competitors in the European market.

Spacious, Elegant and Technically Advanced

With its extended wheelbase and three-row configuration, the Mazda CX-80 delivers outstanding practicality for families. Buyers can choose from the same powertrain options found in the CX-60:

• Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV):
  A Skyactiv-G 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 129kW electric motor and 17.8 kWh high-capacity battery.
• 3.3-litre e-Skyactiv D diesel:
  Mazda’s advanced in-line six-cylinder engine delivering 254ps.

Both powertrain options are exclusively paired with all-wheel drive, ensuring confident performance in all conditions.

This latest award follows Mazda’s strong recent performance at SCOTY, with the CX-60 e-Skyactiv D winning Best Large SUV in 2023 and the CX-60 PHEV securing Best Plug-in Hybrid in 2022.

ASMW President, Ally Ballingall, praised the CX-80, saying:

Designed for Comfort, Space and Premium Appeal

The Mazda CX-80’s wheelbase is extended by 250mm over the CX-60, providing the interior room required for a truly usable three-row layout. It also stands 26mm taller for enhanced comfort and space, while retaining the sleek width and recognisable styling of its smaller sibling.

In the UK, the CX-80 is available across five well-equipped grades - Exclusive-Line, Homura, Takumi, Homura Plus and Takumi Plus. Customers can choose from three middle-row seating configurations:

• Seven-seat layout: Three-person bench (standard)
• Six-seat layouts:
  • Two captain’s chairs with walk-through space
  • Two captain’s chairs with fixed centre console
