At Western & Barnetts Mazda, we’re excited to share the latest vision from Mazda Corporation as it accelerates toward a dynamic and electrified future. Unveiled during the recent Mazda Multi-Solution Briefing Session in Tokyo, Mazda’s leadership—headed by President and CEO Masahiro Moro—presented a transformative roadmap designed to navigate the rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
This forward-thinking strategy is rooted in three key initiatives that will shape Mazda’s journey through to 2030 and beyond, ensuring that the hallmark joy of driving remains at the heart of every innovation.
Mazda is streamlining its approach to electrification, reducing a previously projected 2 trillion-yen investment to approximately 1.5 trillion yen. This cost-effective strategy is powered by strong partnerships with industry leaders such as Toyota, Denso, BluE Nexus, and Changan Automobile, allowing Mazda to:
Through these collaborations, Mazda aims to stay agile and competitive—maximising value without compromising on performance or innovation.
Recognising that every driver is different, Mazda’s Multi-Solution Strategy ensures that customers around the world can enjoy the ideal powertrain for their needs—whether it's an advanced internal combustion engine, hybrid, or fully electric vehicle.
This tailored approach guarantees exceptional driving dynamics across all models, so customers can always count on Mazda for an engaging, efficient, and reliable experience—whatever their lifestyle or location demands.
Mazda’s heritage of meticulous craftsmanship is evolving with Monozukuri Innovation 2.0, a next-generation manufacturing strategy powered by intelligent technologies. By integrating model-based development across the entire supply chain, Mazda is:
This innovation will support the rapid rollout of increasingly complex vehicles, while maintaining Mazda’s commitment to quality and driving pleasure.
Mazda’s new strategic direction is reinforced by three cutting-edge innovations that will shape its next generation of vehicles:
A new core engine for Mazda’s compact models, the SKYACTIV-Z delivers exceptional fuel economy and performance, while meeting Euro 7 emissions standards. Paired with Mazda’s proprietary hybrid system, it will debut in the next-generation Mazda CX-5 in 2027, streamlining engine types and software to improve production efficiency.
Mazda’s in-house developed EV platform, launching in 2027, will be flexible, scalable, and future-ready. Developed in collaboration with Panasonic Energy Corporation, it will accommodate a variety of battery types and vehicle sizes. This all-new EV—produced in Japan—will follow the upcoming Mazda6e, with a new electric SUV planned as part of Mazda’s second-phase rollout (2025–2027).
Mazda is reimagining manufacturing with its enhanced mixed-flow production line—capable of building EVs alongside traditional vehicles with up to 85% less capital investment and 80% shorter preparation time. Mobile, rootless “factory units” using AGVs (Automatic Guided Vehicles) will boost agility and responsiveness, while Factory OTA (Over-the-Air) systems will transform software integration and inventory management.
Speaking on the company’s direction, President Masahiro Moro stated:
“As the automotive industry undergoes a once-in-a-century transformation, Mazda is committed to evolving while staying true to the joy of driving. Our strategies are designed to balance sustainable growth with the delivery of unique value—no matter the scale of our business.”
Here at Western & Barnetts Mazda, we’re inspired by this bold vision and excited to support Mazda’s journey into an electrified, intelligent, and driver-focused future. Stay tuned for the arrival of the all-new Mazda6e and future EV models—where tradition meets tomorrow.
