Mazda Motor Corporation has revealed two exciting new vision models at the Japan Mobility Show: the Mazda Vision X-Coupe and the Mazda Vision X-Compact. Representing the brand’s forward-looking theme, “The Joy of Driving Fuels a Sustainable Tomorrow”, the concepts showcase Mazda’s vision for mobility in 2035.
The Mazda Vision X-Coupe presents a bold evolution of Mazda’s signature design language with its sleek sports coupe silhouette. Powered by an innovative plug-in hybrid system, it pairs a two-rotor rotary turbo engine with an electric motor and battery.
With 510PS and a pure electric driving range of 160km, the X-Coupe can travel up to 800km when using both its motor and engine. In addition, the model supports carbon-neutral fuel derived from microalgae, working alongside Mazda’s proprietary Mazda Mobile Carbon Capture technology to actively reduce atmospheric CO₂ the more it is driven.
Designed to strengthen the emotional connection between people and their vehicles, the Mazda Vision X-Compact integrates human-sensory digital modelling with empathetic AI. Acting as a companion that can engage in natural conversations and suggest meaningful destinations, the X-Compact previews Mazda’s vision for intelligent mobility and deeper human–machine relationships.
Also taking the spotlight is the all-new Mazda CX-5, shown to the public for the first time in its European specification. Featuring a spacious cabin, refined Kodo design, and enhanced Jinba Ittai driving dynamics, the new CX-5 builds on the global success of a model that has sold more than 4.5 million units across over 100 markets.
This latest generation is engineered with Mazda’s new E/E Architecture+, delivering further improvements in connectivity, responsiveness, and overall driving experience.
Masahiro Moro, Representative Director, President and CEO of Mazda, said:
“The phrase, ‘The joy of driving fuels a sustainable tomorrow,’ expresses not only Mazda’s fundamental spirit, but also the core of its future challenges. Under the shared global mission of achieving carbon neutrality, Mazda believes that the joy of driving can be a force for positive change for society and the planet. We remain committed to fulfilling the desire of those who love cars and wish to continue driving as long as possible.”
Mazda continues to evolve its “Joy of Driving” philosophy, guided by its “Radically Human” values, aiming to deliver meaningful and enriching mobility experiences for customers around the world.
