Western & Barnetts Mazda is highlighting an important expansion of Mazda’s UK aftersales offering, with Mazda Service Plans now available to owners of older vehicles, including cars that are no longer covered by their manufacturer warranty.
The initiative is designed to make scheduled vehicle maintenance more accessible and affordable, while giving more Mazda owners the opportunity to benefit from servicing carried out by Mazda-trained technicians within the authorised Mazda dealer network.
Whether you drive an older Mazda MX-5, Mazda CX-5 or another model in the range, the expanded service plan programme provides another way to manage routine maintenance costs and keep your vehicle in good hands.
Mazda has expanded its Service Plan programme to include out-of-warranty vehicles, helping owners of older cars access servicing through the franchised Mazda dealer network.
Previously available when purchasing a new Mazda or a Mazda Selected approved used vehicle, the plans can now also be purchased by existing owners through Mazda’s UK customer website.
The initiative aims to reconnect Mazda with owners who may currently use independent garages or fast-fit centres, as well as motorists who purchased their vehicles outside the Mazda dealer network.
Since the expanded programme launched, approximately 10% of new Mazda Service Plan sales have been for vehicles more than 10 years old, demonstrating demand among owners looking to maintain their cars for longer.
For drivers across Scotland, including Mazda owners visiting Western & Barnetts Mazda, the expansion highlights Mazda’s ongoing commitment to customer care beyond the initial vehicle purchase and manufacturer warranty period.
One of the principal benefits of a Mazda Service Plan is the ability to budget for scheduled servicing through a planned payment structure.
By fixing the cost of eligible scheduled maintenance in advance, a service plan can help owners manage routine motoring expenses and reduce uncertainty around upcoming servicing requirements.
The expanded programme also provides access to Mazda-trained technicians working in Mazda workshops, offering servicing expertise specific to the brand and its vehicles.
Mazda Motors UK Director of Customer Service and Aftersales, David Wilson-Green, said:
“Service plans have long enabled car buyers to fix the cost of scheduled servicing. Our latest plan extends that benefit to thousands of owners of older models, giving them access to Mazda-trained technicians in Mazda workshops”.
The initiative is particularly relevant for owners whose vehicles are approaching or have passed the 10-year mark, and for those who want to continue maintaining a much-loved Mazda as it gets older.
Alongside scheduled servicing, Mazda Service Plan customers have the option to make voluntary additional monthly contributions towards unexpected replacement costs that are not covered by their plan.
Any unused additional contributions can be reclaimed when the plan ends.
This optional arrangement offers customers another way to prepare for potential vehicle maintenance expenses. However, owners should check the individual plan terms to understand which servicing items are included, which replacement costs are excluded and how any additional contributions can be reclaimed.
Mazda says affordability has been central to the expansion, with competitive labour rates intended to make franchised dealer servicing more attractive to owners of older vehicles.
Wilson-Green added:
“affordability is key to the success of this programme which is why we have ensured that owners of older cars are included and benefit from competitive labour rates. Typically, these customers will be using independent garages and fast-fit centres, so we see this as a valuable way for Mazda dealers to build long term lasting relationships for both servicing work and future car sales”.
The programme reflects Mazda’s aim to build lasting relationships with owners throughout their vehicle’s lifetime, rather than limiting aftersales support to the original warranty period.
Early results suggest the expanded Mazda Service Plan offering is appealing to owners of older vehicles.
Mazda has reported that owners of 13-year-old Mazda MX-5 and Mazda CX-5 models have chosen to bring their cars back into the franchised dealer network for servicing.
For MX-5 owners, whose cars may be cherished for their driving character and enthusiast appeal, maintaining a vehicle over many years can be an important part of ownership. Similarly, older Mazda CX-5 models remain practical choices for drivers seeking everyday versatility.
Mazda commented on the early success of the programme:
“We know from some early successes how compelling the proposition is, with owners of 13-year-old MX-5 and CX-5 models now choosing to service their cherished cars within our dealer network.”
The expansion gives eligible owners another option when deciding where to maintain their vehicles, particularly if they value brand-specific servicing expertise and predictable scheduled maintenance costs.
Keeping your Mazda properly maintained is important throughout its life, whether you drive a newer model or a vehicle that has been part of your family for many years.
