Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is bringing a new level of entertainment to the road with an exciting upgrade to the infotainment systems in the current ID. Buzz, Caddy, Multivan, California, and Crafter models. Introducing the AirConsole In-Car App, the first-ever games console designed specifically for vehicles, allowing passengers to stream and play online games during charging stops or any break in the journey.
With AirConsole, passengers’ smartphones become game controllers, transforming the vehicle’s infotainment screen into a true gaming platform. This innovation makes waiting times more fun and interactive — whether you’re on a quick stop or a longer rest.
“With the AirConsole, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is significantly upgrading the existing range of onboard games. Up to now, there have been games that are permanently installed on the infotainment system and controlled via the touchscreen and the multifunction steering wheel. However, the AirConsole is now transforming the infotainment system into a real gaming platform. This is because it allows games to be streamed online. As outlined, smartphones act as the controllers. This enables passengers to compete against each other in a parked vehicle using their smartphones – just like at home with a games console and controllers. Depending on the game and amount of space in the car, up to eight players can take part.”
The initial offering includes 15 games available to stream free of charge for customers with an active VW Connect Plus contract. Among these is the beloved classic PAC-MAN Championship Edition, bringing a nostalgic favourite to the car’s screen.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has teamed up with technology partner N-Dream and renowned game developer Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. to bring this innovative entertainment solution on board.
