Motability is a government funded scheme to help disabled people, members of the Armed Forces, and war pensioners remain mobile. The scheme makes it possible for eligible people exchange their weekly mobility allowance to cover the cost of leasing a vehicle. Find out more about Motability.

The Honda e is a funky electric vehicle that’s perfect for city driving. It’s fun, easy to handle and offers lots of technological extras. One of the biggest benefits is the fact the Honda e is well known for its reliability, another is its wide opening doors and the easy access those provide for those with mobility aids. It’s definitely best suited to those who’ll mainly be using it to get around town, thanks to its claimed 139-mile electric range. The front charging port makes it nice and easy to access when you do need to hit a station, however.
Another compact option is the surprisingly versatile Volkswagen T-Cross. This dynamic SUV is both stylish and practical, thanks to its spacious interior and great fuel efficiency. It’s easy to drive and has lots of nice kit fitted as standard, including a suite of driver assistance systems as well as a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.
While it’s more spacious in the front than it is in the back, the Mazda CX-30 is a great choice when you’re looking for a stylish Motability car. It’s easily adaptable for a series of accessibility needs and has a strong design focus on driver and passenger usability. The interior is also nice and comfortable and its equally at home in the city or out on the motorway.
If you’re looking for an option big enough for the whole family, then the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is an excellent choice. This 7-seat SUV is exceptionally spacious and is very comfortable too. Expect easy access thanks to its high driving position, as well as some great interior touches.
When you’re looking for a little taste of luxury for your Motability car, then the Lexus UX is a natural choice. The premium quality interior and elegant design mean it looks and feels great. It’s got some nice safety features and is packed with the latest technology – as you’d expect from such a luxury brand – and has some welcome extras, like a user-friendly 12,3-inch touchscreens and a smart navigation system.
