Celebrating 50 Years Of BMW M In Style

M. The most powerful letter in the world. BMW M has been a key player in the exceptional history of motorsport and stands for high-performance and passion.

On Saturday 3rd September 2022 our Eastern & Grassicks BMW dealerships invited our own loyal BMW M customers out on an exclusive rally through some of Scotland's most beautiful and scenic routes. The fun-packed day was enjoyed thoroughly by both our staff and clients. Here we'll talk you through how this celebratory event unfolded... put it this way, it was certainly one for the history books!

Where it all began...

We began the Official 50 Years Of M tour at our state-of-the-art Eastern BMW dealership, situated within Edinburgh's Luxury Car Village.

Guests were asked to arrive for 9am, where they were greeted with their personalised Starbucks order (provided prior to the event) which were kept warm in their gifted M Collection Flasks.

Before our Franchise Director, Magnus Wang, began the event briefing with our guests they had the opportunity to have a look around our showroom, browse our current M stock and even enjoy our tasty specially baked M cupcakes!

After the plan of action was outlined to all participants, and drivers had received their route cards, we departed the showroom for 10am in convoy. 40 bright and wonderful M cars passed our starting line, with flags each side, and it was certainly a sight to behold!

LET THE TOUR BEGIN!

Towards The Hill House...

We embarked on our journey up the M9, past Stirling and then onto the A811. As we approached the stunning Loch Lommond, we joined the A82 towards our first stop - The Hill House, Helensburgh. The car park was closed for our arrival, and we lined the cars up in an orderly fashion before entering the venue.

The Hill House is ‘dissolving like an aspirin in a glass of water’

Whilst we enjoyed breakfast rolls on The Hill House Cafe Roof Terrace our guests had the chance to wander around the exterior frames and truly take in every square inch of this protected and iconic building. The surrounding gardens are a spectacular sight too... today, the garden has the following main components: orchard and north wall herbaceous border, kitchen garden, glasshouse, rose garden, lilac circle, wildflower meadow, ‘plum pudding’ rockery and terraced lawns.

Up the West banks of Loch Lommond and towards Boreland, Loch Tay...

We reached the stunning village of Killin and before reaching Kenmore stopped off at Boreland, Loch Tay. This stop was primarily arranged to allow us to re-group and also made for some incredible photos. Loch Tay provided the perfect back-drop. It really did look incredible!

Set on 120 acres of land with beautiful views of Loch Tay, it's the perfect location to turn a holiday or event into a treasured memory.

The final stop - Fonab Castle...

After spending half an hour at Boreland we continued the designated route up past the historical villages of Kenmore and Aberfeldy. As our 40 odd M Cars rumbled through these villages we certainly drew a crowd... even in the rain!

The final sprint up the A9 eventually brought our convoy of cars to the fantastic Fonab Castle, where a BBQ dinner and open bar was waiting for us to enjoy. Upon arrival, the weather improved, and each of our guests were offered our signature M Mocktail. This very on-brand drink was created with the help of the lovely bar staff of Fonab. It consisted of Blue Curacao, Cranberry and Soda... and was rather tasty I must say.

We had exclusive access to the venues stunning glass brasserie which looked out over the River Tummel.

Official BMW M merchandise was available to purchase from within this area, and it was fantastic to see so many of our guests taking full advantage of this.

After indulging in food, drink and even ice-cream... it was time to say goodbye to our fellow M car enthusiasts and owners. What a day it was, and we cannot wait to continue something similar into 2023!
