The Volkswagen T-Roc has been named Best Car for Caravans up to 1,300kg at the prestigious What Car? Tow Car Awards 2026, further strengthening its reputation as one of the UK's most versatile and capable compact SUVs.
The award was judged by towing experts from What Car? and the Camping and Caravanning Club, who put a range of vehicles through extensive real-world tests. These included towing stability, emergency manoeuvres, braking performance, hill starts, reversing, practicality, safety, running costs and overall value.
The winning model was the Volkswagen T-Roc 1.5 eTSI 150 PS DSG, which impressed judges with its stability, comfort and everyday usability.
Commenting on the award, What Car? Editor Steve Huntingford said:
"The Volkswagen T-Roc is the new benchmark for small tow cars. Anyone with a lightweight caravan or trailer to tow will be delighted with the T-Roc."
Judges highlighted the T-Roc's excellent towing stability, confident handling during emergency manoeuvres and spacious interior, making it an ideal choice for families looking for a practical SUV that can also handle towing duties with ease.
This latest accolade follows another major success for the T-Roc, having already been named Best Small SUV by What Car? earlier this year.
