The Volkswagen ID.4 and Volkswagen ID.5 continue to qualify for the UK Government’s electric car grant, even after a series of recent product enhancements.
Across selected trims, both models now benefit from improved battery technology, delivering increased net capacity, stronger performance and extended driving range. For example, ID.4 Pro 4MOTION variants now offer up to 299 PS and a range of up to 341 miles (WLTP).
In GTX versions, battery capacity has been slightly reduced, but efficiency gains mean power output remains unchanged while range sees a modest increase.
Importantly, many of these upgrades come with little or no additional cost, helping maintain the models’ strong value proposition.
New features across the ID.4 and ID.5 include:
An optional heat pump has also been refined for greater efficiency, while ID.4 Pro 4MOTION models now offer an increased towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg (braked).
Entry-level trims now feature larger 19-inch wheels, while selected models gain added convenience features such as an electric tailgate. A 230-volt socket is also available as an option, further enhancing everyday practicality.
Since its launch, the ID.4 has established itself as a key model in Volkswagen’s electric line-up, even earning the title of World Car of the Year 2021. The ID.5 followed as the brand’s first all-electric SUV coupé, combining efficiency with a more dynamic design.
With prices starting from £36,995 (OTR, inc VAT), both models continue to offer an accessible route into electric driving, now backed by confirmed eligibility for the Government’s electric car grant.
