Volkswagen has been named Electric Car Brand of the Year at the 2026 Which? Awards, a major recognition of the brand’s progress in electric mobility and the strength of its growing EV line-up.
The award was presented at the Science Museum in London as part of the annual Which? Awards, which celebrate the best brands and products across a wide range of sectors. Winners are chosen by an expert panel using a combination of independent product testing, undercover investigations and real-world feedback from thousands of consumers.
Volkswagen received the award after impressing judges with the reliability, innovation, safety and efficiency of its electric vehicle range. The brand’s EV line-up was also praised for offering customers a broad choice of models across different price points and vehicle types.
The judges said Volkswagen stood out thanks to its strong performance across the range, with several models achieving best-buy or near-best-buy results in Which? testing. They also highlighted the brand’s willingness to listen to customer feedback and continue improving in-car technology and the ownership experience.
The award is another important milestone for Volkswagen as it continues to expand its electric vehicle offering and make EV ownership more accessible to more drivers.
Rod McLeod, Director of Volkswagen UK, said the award reflects the progress the brand has made with its electric cars in recent years. He also pointed to Volkswagen’s next generation of smaller electric models, including the new ID. Polo, as an important step in bringing electric driving to an even wider audience.
