Multiple Victories for Volkswagen at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Awards

Volkswagen is celebrating a standout performance at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year 2026 Awards, with the new Passat taking home the overall title, alongside category wins for Family Towcar and caravan weight 1,300–1,500 kg.

Adding to the success, the Volkswagen Multivan continued its impressive winning streak, securing the Large Family Towcar award for the fourth year in a row.

A Double Triumph for Volkswagen

The latest ninth-generation Passat was praised by judges as “the best of the lot”, securing its place as the Towcar of the Year 2026. With more than 34 million units sold worldwide since its debut in 1973, the Passat remains one of Volkswagen’s most successful and trusted models — second only to the Golf.

Judges from the Caravan and Motorhome Club said they voted for the new Passat “overwhelmingly” as the overall winner, recognising its balance of comfort, control, and practicality — perfect for towing adventures of every kind.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Multivan, from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, once again proved its versatility and family appeal. Judges highlighted its interior space, refinement, and smooth performance, making it an ideal choice for families who enjoy towing.

Strong Showing Across the Volkswagen Range

In addition to these major wins, several other Volkswagen models were shortlisted across key categories — underlining the strength and diversity of the brand’s line-up.

Shortlisted models included:

  • ID.5 and ID.7 Tourer (caravan weight under 1,300 kg)
  • Tayron (caravan weight 1,300–1,500 kg)
  • Tiguan (caravan weight 1,500–1,600 kg)
  • ID. Buzz (caravan weight 1,600–1,700 kg)

All vehicles were tested by an expert panel of eight judges at the UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground near Bedford — a venue designed to challenge vehicles across real-world driving environments.
