Driving equality, visibility, and electric innovation on and off the pitch
Volkswagen is once again stepping onto the international football stage as an official partner of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, set to take place in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July. This marks a continued commitment to supporting women’s football, with the brand also backing seven of the 16 participating national teams.
Christine Wolburg, Volkswagen Brand Chief, expressed pride in the partnership:
“We’ve been committed to empowering women in sport for many years. Supporting the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 is another step in championing visibility, fairness, and inclusion in football.”
Volkswagen's dedication goes beyond just sponsorship. The company is actively involved with national teams from Germany, Switzerland (the host nation), France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, and Italy, through collaborations between Volkswagen importers and their national football associations.
In addition to supporting the beautiful game, Volkswagen is also using this prestigious platform to showcase its all-electric ID. range. From the compact ID.3 to the spacious ID. Buzz, the Women’s EURO offers an opportunity to highlight Volkswagen’s innovative EV lineup to an engaged, international audience.
“This partnership allows us to combine purpose with progress — supporting women in football while introducing fans to our ID. family of electric vehicles,” Wolburg added.
Volkswagen has long championed women’s football, both at the grassroots and elite levels. The brand supported UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 in England, and at home in Germany, continues to back VfL Wolfsburg Women, one of Europe’s most successful women’s clubs — boasting multiple Bundesliga titles, DFB Cups, and Champions League wins.
EURO 2025 Ambassador and German captain Alexandra Popp praised Volkswagen’s enduring support:
“Volkswagen has believed in us from the beginning — both at club and national level. Their involvement has helped women’s football grow in professionalism, quality, and visibility.”
UEFA Marketing Director, Guy-Laurent Epstein, highlighted the significance of Volkswagen’s return as a sponsor:
“Volkswagen’s continued partnership reflects shared values and belief in the women’s game. Their support is helping make this year’s UEFA Women’s EURO the biggest and most impactful yet.”
Hosted across eight Swiss cities, UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 is expected to break attendance and engagement records — and Volkswagen will be front and centre, not just on the pitch, but in local fan activities and activations across football-loving countries.
Volkswagen made waves at the last EURO with its bold #KeinFrauenfußball (#NotWomensFootball) campaign — challenging outdated language and perceptions surrounding the women’s game. It’s all part of a wider commitment to gender equality, diversity, and representation.
Western & Barnetts Volkswagen is proud to be part of a brand that champions inclusion in sport and drives forward the electric future. As the countdown to UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 begins, we’ll be cheering on the incredible athletes — and leading the charge with Volkswagen’s ID. family.
