The Honda Civic Type R has once again reaffirmed its dominance in the automotive world by clinching the prestigious UK Car of the Year award in the Performance Car category. Judged by a panel of esteemed automotive journalists, the UK Car of the Year Awards recognizes excellence across various automotive categories, setting the benchmark for outstanding performance, innovation, and quality in the industry.
Tom Sharpe, a member of the UKCotY judging panel, said: “The most powerful Civic Type R is also the fastest, but not at the expense of fun and drivability. The excellent snickety gearbox is an absolute joy and the tractability of the two-litre turbocharged engine addictive. What a car!”
While Mark Nichol, another UKCotY judge, summed up Honda’s Civic Type R as: “One of the most outright fun cars ever made. The sort of thing that makes every drive feel like an event – and every driver feel like a pro.”
The Civic Type R will now go up against the winners of the other six categories at this year's Awards to determine the overall UK Car of the Year 2024. The judging is underway with the announcement of the overall winner expected to be made on Friday 8th March.
