Is the Motability Scheme easier than owning a car privately?
Yes. The Motability Scheme makes driving a new MINI simpler and more convenient, with an all-inclusive lease package that takes care of many of the usual costs and responsibilities of running a car. Your lease includes insurance, servicing, routine maintenance and breakdown cover, helping you budget with greater confidence. We’ll guide you through the process of choosing your MINI and applying to join the Scheme, so you can focus on enjoying the drive.
Can my partner, family member or carer drive my MINI Motability car?
Yes. You don’t have to be the only driver of your MINI through the Motability Scheme. You can nominate up to three drivers in total, subject to the Scheme’s insurance requirements. These can include you, your partner, a family member or a carer. If you’re unable to drive yourself, eligible nominated drivers can drive on your behalf, provided the vehicle is used for your benefit and all Scheme conditions are met.
What are the running costs of a MINI on the Motability Scheme?
One of the key benefits of leasing a MINI through the Motability Scheme is that many essential motoring costs are included in your lease. This typically covers insurance, servicing, routine maintenance, breakdown assistance, tyre repairs and replacements, and windscreen cover. You’ll still need to budget for costs such as fuel or charging, as well as any applicable Advance Payment, excesses or charges not covered by your agreement. If you need additional support to make driving or travelling more accessible, a range of Motability vehicle adaptations may be available to help you get the most from your MINI. Depending on your requirements and eligibility, adaptations can include driving aids, easier-access solutions and other equipment designed to improve comfort and usability. Some approved adaptations may be available at no extra cost when arranged at the start of your Motability lease, while others may involve an additional payment. Availability depends on the adaptation, your circumstances and the current Motability Scheme terms. The Motability Managed Adaptations Programme can help coordinate the process, from identifying suitable adaptations to arranging installation through an approved installer.
