Having first experienced and reviewed the impressive smart #1 BRABUS in November 2023, I was delighted to return to smart at Mercedes-Benz of Edinburgh for another superbly organised BRABUS Experience event on 23rd and 24th October 2026.
And what an experience it proved to be!
Storm Boelo certainly brought some challenging Scottish weather, with heavy rain, standing water and strong winds. However, these conditions provided an unexpected opportunity to appreciate the extraordinary engineering, assured handling and remarkable traction of two seriously impressive electric performance cars: the smart #3 BRABUS and smart #5 BRABUS.
The #3 BRABUS makes an immediate impression with its striking coupé-SUV styling, purposeful stance and unmistakable BRABUS detailing.
Beneath that sleek exterior, twin electric motors deliver a formidable 422bhp through an intelligent all-wheel-drive system, launching the car from 0–62mph in just 3.7 seconds.
On the road, the acceleration is exhilarating! Yet what impressed me equally was the car's agility, composure and confidence-inspiring roadholding. Even through standing water and slippery conditions, the #3 felt beautifully planted, responsive and remarkably reassuring.
Combine that performance with a comfortable, well-equipped interior and everyday practicality, and you have a car that delivers genuine driving excitement without compromise.
If the #3 impresses, the larger #5 BRABUS takes the experience to another level.
With an astonishing 637bhp, all-wheel drive and a 0–62mph time of just 3.8 seconds, this substantial SUV delivers acceleration that genuinely defies its size.
Yet the #5 is much more than breathtaking performance. Its spacious, beautifully appointed cabin, generous luggage capacity, sophisticated technology and impressive Sennheiser audio system create a genuinely premium experience.
Advanced rapid-charging capability further strengthens its credentials as a practical, long-distance family vehicle.
Despite its larger dimensions, I found the #5 reassuringly composed and impressively capable in demanding conditions.
Both BRABUS models brilliantly demonstrate how electric motoring can combine thrilling performance, distinctive design and everyday usability.
The #3 offers sleek, agile sporting appeal; the #5 delivers exceptional space, luxury and flagship sophistication.
My recommendation? Don't simply read the performance figures – experience these remarkable cars for yourself. Book a test drive and prepare to be impressed!
