Motorists are being urged to follow a crucial internal lighting rule this December to avoid winter-related car breakdowns. The AA has highlighted the importance of turning off all internal and external lights when parking and switching off the engine, a small but vital step that could prevent battery issues during colder months.
Between December 2023 and February 2024, one-fifth of breakdowns attended by the AA were caused by problems with 12-volt batteries, which are especially susceptible to draining in winter conditions.
