Western & Barnetts Nissan is excited to share that the Nissan Formula E Team delivered a standout performance at the iconic Monaco E-Prix, with Oliver Rowland securing a race win, a second-place finish, and pole position across a thrilling double-header weekend in the heart of Monte-Carlo.
The British driver continues to lead the Drivers' Championship after a commanding Round 6 victory on Saturday, followed by a strategic and skilful drive to second place on Sunday. Nissan now retains its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship and is closing in on the top spot in the Teams’ Standings – proving the strength of Nissan’s electric racing program on the global stage.
Starting from P2, Rowland executed a perfectly timed Pit Boost and made a series of late-race overtakes to take the chequered flag – his third win of the season. His control and pace on the tight Monaco circuit were unmatched, making it a textbook victory for the team.
Teammate Norman Nato made solid progress from P18 to P14, showing consistent race pace despite some earlier technical challenges.
In changing weather conditions, Rowland showcased his experience by taking pole position in a chaotic wet qualifying session. He led the early stages of the race and battled through tricky circumstances to finish second, keeping his championship momentum alive.
Nato, starting 15th, navigated the damp track well and gained a couple of positions to finish 13th at his home E-Prix.
Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director & Team Principal, said:
“A win, a pole, and a podium in Monaco – that’s a fantastic result. We showed strong pace and excellent strategy execution with Oliver, while we’ll work on unlocking more performance with Norman. We’re focused on scoring with both cars moving forward, especially with our home race in Tokyo just around the corner.”
Oliver Rowland, Driver:
“Monaco was a dream weekend! Winning on Saturday and backing it up with pole and second place on Sunday is something I’m really proud of. The car felt strong, and the strategy was spot-on. I’m carrying this momentum into Tokyo – a race that means a lot to the whole team.”
Norman Nato, Driver:
“It was a tough weekend for me personally, but I’m staying positive. We made changes that helped, and I’ll come back stronger in Tokyo. It’s our home race, and I’m determined to contribute to the team’s points haul.”
The action continues on May 17–18 with the Tokyo E-Prix, a race close to the heart of the Nissan Formula E Team. With momentum on their side and a passionate fanbase awaiting, all eyes are on Nissan to deliver another electrifying performance.
