Nissan is making the switch to electric driving even more accessible thanks to a new partnership with leading home-charging provider Pod. With the arrival of two major new EVs - the All-New LEAF and All-New MICRA - the brand has introduced an exclusive offer designed to cut costs and simplify home charging for customers.
Pod’s smart home-charging subscription, Pod Drive, usually requires a £99 upfront fee for installation of the Pod Point Solo 3S charger. For Nissan customers, this cost has been reduced to just £49, less than half the standard price.
But the savings don’t stop there. Pod Drive users can earn over £170 per year by regularly smart-charging. Pod’s system automatically charges the vehicle when electricity is available at the best rates - often, but not always, overnight. In return, customers receive cash rewards for every smart-charging session, up to their mileage allowance. For example, a driver covering 7,500 miles per year using Pod’s smart-charged energy could receive £172.50 back, significantly lowering annual home-charging costs.
Customers remain in control of their charging schedule, setting a required “ready by” time and overriding smart-charging whenever needed. Pod Drive also offers 24/7 support and a 48-hour repair-or-replace service, ensuring worry-free home charging.
The exclusive offer is available to customers purchasing the new LEAF, MICRA, ARIYA, or any other Nissan electric vehicle, and can be activated directly at the point of sale.
James Taylor, Managing Director of Nissan GB, said:
“At Nissan, we know a reliable, convenient, cost-effective home charging solution makes a huge positive difference to the EV ownership experience. Pod Drive delivers exactly that, and now – just like our brand-new 100% electric models, the All-New Nissan LEAF and MICRA – it’s even more affordable. We’re delighted to partner with Pod to make the switch to more sustainable motoring simpler and cheaper for our customers.”
Debbie Foley, Chief Revenue Officer at Pod, added:
“Nissan has been spearheading the EV transition from the very beginning and it’s clear they show no signs of stopping. As a pioneer just like Pod, they saw the huge potential of EVs over 15 years ago and together we have ushered in the mass-market adoption of electric driving. Both our teams have been relentlessly innovating from the get-go and we now mark an exciting collaboration to offer their EV customers a new way to charge at home that gives them total peace of mind.”
