NISMO Returns to Europe with the Ariya NISMO
NISMO, Nissan's performance division, is making a grand re-entry into the European market, and the Ariya NISMO is leading the charge. This new flagship model blends the technological advancements of the Ariya e-4ORCE with a host of performance upgrades, creating an electric vehicle that doesn’t just perform— it excites.
Aerodynamic Engineering Meets Electric Excellence
The Ariya NISMO’s design is all about efficiency and speed. Its aerodynamic enhancements, inspired by Formula E, include new spoilers, air curtains, and a redesigned front splitter. These features reduce drag and lower the car’s lift coefficient by 40%, achieving an impressive drag coefficient of CL 0.11, compared to the regular Ariya’s CL 0.18.
Complementing its aerodynamic prowess, the Ariya NISMO sports unique 20-inch ENKEI wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres. These elements not only provide superior grip and improved brake cooling but also feature a lightweight design thanks to ENKEI’s advanced 'MAT Process'. The result? Enhanced handling and performance.
Exhilarating Performance and Handling
Under the hood, the Ariya NISMO ups the ante with a power boost to 435 PS (429 HP / 320 kW), nearly 130 PS more than the standard Ariya. Torque remains a robust 600 Nm, propelling the NISMO from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just five seconds. The acceleration from 50-70 mph (80-120 km/h) is achieved in a mere 2.4 seconds, showcasing its impressive straight-line speed.
But the Ariya NISMO is more than just a speed demon. Its e-4ORCE four-wheel-drive system, honed with insights from the GT-R NISMO’s ATTESA system, ensures remarkable handling and agility. With a new 60:40 rear-bias and enhanced mechanical grip, the NISMO outperforms even the GT-R NISMO in line-tracing performance by 12%. The reworked suspension and retuned steering add to the driving dynamics, making for a truly engaging experience.
Luxury Meets Comfort
Inside, the Ariya NISMO continues the performance ethos with a luxurious touch. The interior is adorned with premium materials, including suede-like seats with NISMO stitching, and a sophisticated blackened wood texture. Red accents and new digital gauges enhance the sporty ambiance, offering both style and comfort.
Sales and Availability
The Ariya NISMO will be available in a single launch specification with a striking NISMO Stealth Grey exterior. Sales are set to begin in January 2025, with UK customers having the opportunity for priority access by contacting local Nissan dealers later this month. The Ariya NISMO will be available across European markets, excluding Cyprus, Malta, and Northern Ireland.
