The head-to-head evaluation, conducted by Auto Express—a leading UK car news and reviews publication—praised the Qashqai for its refinement, excellent value, and impressive equipment. Auto Express noted that Nissan’s original Qashqai launch in the mid-2000s was a game-changer, combining the driving dynamics of a hatchback with the appeal and space of an SUV, making it a "sales superstar."
Despite increased competition by the time the third-generation Qashqai was released, it remains popular and is currently the UK’s third best-selling new car of 2024. Although the Kia Sportage had previously held an edge, the Qashqai has now reclaimed its top position.
In a thorough 16-page review featured in Auto Express and on its website, the Qashqai received praise for its innovative e-Power hybrid system, strong safety credentials, and balanced handling. The car was described as "stable and secure" on various roads, with a "hushed" motorway experience and "great" high-speed comfort.
Additional highlights include a large, clear digital dashboard, a versatile boot floor with a wipe-clean side, and impressive cabin stowage. The front seats offer extensive adjustment, and the doors open nearly to a right angle for easy access.
Auto Express concluded that the Qashqai’s victory is notable, marking its first win in an Auto Express comparison test. The improved hybrid powertrain and mid-life updates have enhanced its appeal, with strong value for money and competitive finance offers contributing to its success. The Qashqai’s victory over the Sportage—a favorite in its class—is a significant achievement and could boost its already strong sales.
