Toyota is celebrating double success in the Great British FleetAwards with honours for Corolla Commercial and Proace, reinforcing the strength-in-depth of the Toyota Professional light commercial vehicle range.
Corolla Commercial is a unique proposition in the UK market, a full hybrid electric van, based on the Corolla Hatchback passenger car. Launched in 2022, the model has been further strengthened this spring, benefiting from the extra power and performance of Toyota’s fifth generation hybrid technology. At the same time its high fuel and emissions efficiency has been maintained.
Commenting on Corolla Commercial’s success, John Kendall, Editor Van Fleet World, said: The Corolla Commercial Hybrid has already found a ready market among fleets carrying light loads. It’s also a British success story, built and converted at Toyota’s Burnaston facility near Derby. It’s well-equipped, easy to drive and offers a realistic 60mpg at petrol, not diesel prices. And a revised model has already been launched offering even lower fuel consumption.”
The Toyota Proace was named Medium Van of the Year, an honour shared with other manufacturers’ models which use the same platform. However, both Proace and Corolla Commercial distinguish themselves from all their competitors in offering a market-leading warranty package that extends to up to 10 years/100,000 miles – the cover is automatically extended each time the vehicle is serviced at an authorised Toyota workshop, at no additional charge*.
Announcing the award, Kendall remarked on Proace’s loading flexibility and the Smart Cargo system which adapts the driver’s cabin so that longer items to be carried. He also commented on how the model’s driver assistance systems enhance its attractiveness to fleet buyers.
The Toyota Proace range offers panel vans in two body lengths with four ICE powertrains with up to 174bhp, with manual and automatic transmissions. The load compartment provides 6.1m3 of cargo space – extending to 6.6m3 with the Smart Cargo system.
