New Mercedes-Benz CLA named ‘Outstanding EV’ at 2026 Carwow Car of The Year Awards

Milton Keynes, United Kingdom. Following a double-win at last month’s Parkers New Car Awards, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ has been crowned the year’s most ‘Outstanding EV’ at the 2026 Carwow Car of The Year Awards.

Mat Watson, Chief Content Officer at Carwow, said: “It’s all about range - and the Mercedes-Benz CLA offers more of it than any other EV, up to 484 miles per charge[1]. That’s more than some diesels can manage, making the CLA a showcase for the stunning progress made in electric car technology. The sleek, slinky bodywork looks ace, the tech-filled interior is super-cool and it’s great to drive - which is important when you’re going to be covering such impressive distances.”

The new Mercedes-Benz CLA’s exceptional efficiency is made possible by innovations taken directly from the VISION EQXX, including the 800-volt electrical architecture and advanced electric drive unit (EDU). Developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-Benz, the EDU features a two-speed transmission. First gear allows the CLA to accelerate quickly from a standstill and deliver the best possible efficiency in urban environments. Second gear ensures high efficiency, and therefore outstanding range and long distance comfort, at consistent motorway speeds.

The CLA’s low drag coefficient of 0.214, standard air-to-air heat pump, intelligent recuperation and optimised route guidance with Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence also have a significant positive impact on driving efficiency. It can be recharged at up to 320 kW – meaning over 200 miles of range can be added in ten minutes[2].

The CLA is available to order now, with the electric CLA 250+ priced from £45,615[3]. The CLA is also offered as a hybrid with a new four-cylinder combustion engine and 48-volt technology. Prices for hybrid models start at £38,700[3].

Customers can place an order through the Mercedes-Benz Online Showroom or by visiting a Mercedes-Benz Agent. Detailed pricing and specifications are available on the Mercedes-Benz website.
